THE QUALITY OF DEAR EDUCATOR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS!
BY EVELYN EKARIKA
The first thing that caught my eye was the quality of the book and then when I started reading it, I was blown away by real-life truths shared by the author.
The quality of the book exceeded my expectation! I have seen other books that are at the same price range or even more expensive so I had a certain picture in mind about what this will look like but I was pleasantly surprised.
Knowing the author personally for some years now, I wasn't expecting anything less than the best when she told me about her book; but reading the book took the bar even higher and further confirmed what I have always known about her. She gives value always and does it wholeheartedly and excellently.
The first time, I read Dear Educator in about 2 hours because I just couldn't stop and I just needed to get on to the next fact that she was sharing. The second time, I had to sit back and take time to annotate the book with a coloured pen, and I almost underlined all the sentences because everything was just so relevant and so true.
I have used Dear Educator for in-house training in my school and it has helped to mould our culture and code of conduct. I have given it as a gift to teachers and they always return to me with so much gratitude saying that was the best gift they have received.
The author has shared her own experiences, both good and bad, and practical strategies on how she became better in her career. The stories are so interesting and relatable; so, you keep saying 'aha!', no wonder!, now I see. It covers every area from the teacher in the classroom all the way to the administrator and even relating to management. She even added the business aspect of being an educator which is what most educators need to learn especially in these times.
Dear Educator should be made a mandatory orientation handbook for educators. For newcomers, it shows you the dos and don'ts that will make you exceptional and for old-timers, it opens your eyes to all the things you have been taking for granted and how to become better at what you do in very practicable terms. I strongly recommend Dear Educator to every educator out there who wants to stand out and be exceptional in their career while profiting from it and making a commendable impact.
