Our client, a prestigious secondary school located in the heart of Abuja, Nigeria, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to assume the vital role of Head of Boarding. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for an exceptional candidate to contribute to the development and well-being of our students in a residential setting.
The position is permanent and residential, and the successful candidate will be provided with a comfortable two-bedroom flat on the school premises.
As the Head of Boarding, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall management and administration of the school's boarding facilities. This role requires a seasoned professional with excellent leadership skills, a deep understanding of student welfare, and a commitment to creating a supportive and enriching living environment for our secondary school students.
- Develop and implement or revise policies and procedures for the effective functioning of the boarding facilities.
- Supervise and lead a team of boarding staff, ensuring a high standard of care and discipline.
- Foster a positive and inclusive community atmosphere within the boarding facilities.
- Collaborate with academic and support staff to address the holistic needs of students.
- Manage student admissions and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Handle emergencies and crisis situations effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding the progress and welfare of students.
- Implement and monitor systems for student behavior, health, and personal development.
- Organise and oversee extracurricular activities for boarding students.
- Ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment within the boarding facilities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Humanities, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a boarding school environment.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of staff effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in student welfare.
- Crisis management and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role.
The gross salary for the Head of Boarding position is N350,000 per month, inclusive of all allowances. Additionally, a fully furnished two-bedroom flat on the school premises will be provided.
