In my career as a school administrator in four schools, I have had to work with school boards. A good professional relationship with members of the school board comes in very handy in getting things done as a school administrator.

School Boards are set up to help with the strategic planning and long term sustainability of the school. And a school administrator usaully has to seek approvals from them for one project or the other.

When properly managed, relationship with the Board enhances your achievements as a school administrator. There are, however, challenges when there is no clear communication of the expectations of the Board from the school administrator, and vice versa.
