In an earlier blog post, I had shared on the need for your school to develop the right policies and procedures to guide your school's operations. I'd also in another post highlighted the need for school administrators to review these poloices and procedures whenever the need arises, and especially at the end of the school year during your time of relection. 

Whilst reviewing your policies is very important, you have to understand that your staff would usually not be very excited to read through the entire policy manual for its review, especailly at the end of the academic year when they are bombarded with so much work to complete the session.

So, the question is ''What can you do to make the staff do the review of the manuals when you need it done, without making it sound like a burdensome task?

As a creative school administrators (and I hope you are one 😂), you have to think of fun ways to do this with the staff you lead.

Can you think of ways to get this done?

Okay, I'm going to help you with the following sugggestions. 

Firstly, inform the staff that you'll have a review of the employee policy manual and that their input will be highly required and appreciated. Well, that's not the fun part. 

You may want to try sharing the team members into groups and giving each group a portion of the handbook to review and to come with a presentation on it. Tell them what they'll be presenting on- how the policies have worked well in the school year, and what polices need to be reviewed. They should come up with recommendations for the review. Make it sound like the groups are competing and attach a little prize as an incentive for the winning group. Everyone could get a little chocolate or a piece of cake for participating actively. 

You might want to arrange the team into tables and have them name their teams. Read out a part of the handbook and let each table prepare a skit to demonstrate how effective or ineffective the policy has been. 

And here is another fun activity you might want to try. It's called the escape room. Share the group into teams and have each team ''locked up'' in a room. They can only get out of the room after thay have completed the review and got a code. 

The fun part is that whilst they're reviewing the handbook, they're also getting to bond with one another in each team. And knowing that they will not be alllowed out of the locked room is enough motivation for them to read the handbook and review it. I bet you'll have a good laugh at this one.
