MANAGING EMPLOYEE EXITS FROM YOUR ORGANIZATION

NANCY EKPEZU

November 9, 2021

Recently, I spotted a post on Facebook that really caught my attention. it was that of a private school owner sending off her employee who was leaving her organization for another. If you have been on social media lately, you'd understand that there is some kind of rancour or rift between school owners and their employees.

Teachers walk away from their jobs without resigning properly.  Even when they do, the school owners frustrate their effort at a professional exit. In this episode of administration with Nancy, I have the owner of Gemseed Schools, Lagos and a former employee of the school, Kelechi Azoro as they share the strategies that have led to such a professional exit.

Lota Ohagwasi shares about the best practices in her school for relating with the staff and parents. She advises other school owners on how to go about building professional relationships with their staff. it's so beautiful to see that amidst the war between school owners and their staff, some schools are getting it right and doing the right thing. Kelechi Azoro shares her experience at Gemseed Schools and advises educators to ensure to exit professionally from any organisation they are engaged with. And I must add this... always have an exit interview as an employee is about to leave your school or organisation.
